First ÖkoFEN system sold in the US
Two systems have been delivered to customers in Maine and New Hampshire
With the help of ÖkoFEN staff, Maine Energy Systems, the distribution partner for New England, has installed the first two systems in US homes. “Contractors have become very excited by the quality of ÖkoFEN products they’re learning to install and service in training sessions taught by company owner, Herbert Ortner. As a result, we’re seeing lots of interest in reducing dependency on fossil fuels while maintaining convenient heating comfort. These very sophisticated systems make environmentally sensible heating possible for the owners of all sizes of homes and businesses in our region.” says Dutch Dresser, Director of Maine Energy Systems.
Systems producing 109,500 BTU/hr and 191,000 BTU/hr have been installed in Maine and New Hampshire recently.
One boiler has been installed to heat the home of Peter Donohoe in North Conway, NH. Peter and others from his company, Jesse E. Lyman, have participated in an ÖkoFEN training session in Bethel, and is convinced that the ÖkoFEN system is the right choice for him.

Another boiler is heating a newly built property in The Colony at Sunday River, Maine. The 109,500 BTU/hr system provides carbon neutral heat for 2,700 sq.ft. and the domestic hot water for the luxury house which offers spectacular trail views of Sunday River Ski Resort.

After the installation the new owners and the proud ÖkoFEN and Maine Energy Systems staff members observed the first ÖkoFEN pellet flame in a US home.
ÖkoFEN entered the US market this summer with the intention of bringing fully automatic and convenient European pellet heating technology to North America.
The well proven systems (over 30 000 installations in Europe) are produced under license by US based Maine Eco Pellet Heating LLC and marketed by MESys under the AutoPellet name. Most of the production related work will be done in the US as soon as it is possible. The products are therefore contributing not only to a healthy environment, but also to a healthy local economy. “Since local production and decentralized organisation always have been core principles of ÖkoFEN, it was important for us to make the product an American product which is produced by US workers as soon as possible. To have the first few systems running in US homes is very good for us and makes me feel a little bit proud too.” says ÖkoFEN CEO Herbert Ortner about the new development on the US market.
