Pellets and Solar - the perfect combination!
Mountain Farmer changes from Oil to Pellets and Solar
More and more families in Europe decide to heat their house with Woodpellets instead of Oil or Gas. The owner of the tourist mountain farm house Habersatt in Altenmarkt, Austria installed a ÖkoFEN PELLEMATIC system in combination with Solar panels - a perfect combination for renewable carbon-neutral heat.

The 56 kW boiler delivers heat for the farmhouse, the restaurant and the small hotel. Before the installation of the Pellematic system family Steffner had an Oil heating system which needed about 8500 l of heating oil per year. "When the latest heating bill came I new that I have to act and decided to use the very well known ÖkoFEN system." says Mr. Steffner.
For the domestic hot water the farm house at an altitude of 1120 m uses a 25 m² solar system. That combination is perfect for an application like that and can easily be controlled with the Pellematic system.
The switch from Oil to Pellets took only 3 days. Old oil tanks were demounted and cut into pieces by the local installer Alfred Vorderegger. "That work is normally done in at least 3 days" explains Alfed Vorderegger.
The owner of the mountain farm used the modernisation of their heating system for a general remodelling of the house. "We built a big patio for our guests on top of the pellets storage rooms. For the solar system, which saves us a lot of energy in the summer time, we found the perfect place too" describes Mr. Steffner the building activity at his house.
