FlexiTank

FlexiTank sizing

The tank size depends on the building heat load. Assuming typical heating conditions, the following will help you to estimate the size of the FlexiTank required: for every 1kW of heat load, plan for an annual consumption of 400kg of pellets.

Examples:

Heat load 12 kW x 400 kg = 4800 kg.......FlexiTank S2822H or S280H

Heat load 10 kW x 400 kg = 4000 kg.......FlexiTank S2819H

Heat load 7 kW x 400 kg = 2800 kg.........FlexiTank S190H

FlexiTank storage

Pellets are delivered by tanker truck and are blown into the store room or the FlexiTank. The truck's pumping hose is max. 30 m length, so the FlexiTank (or rather the filler coupling) must be no more than 30m from the drive, parking space or road. If possible, the FlexiTank room should border at least one exterior wall, since the filler coupling must be accessible from the outside. Where this is not possible, ventilation and filling pipes must be routed to a filler coupling on the outside of the building. (Attention - in some countries fire regulations must be observed). The boiler room should also have at least one exterior wall in order to allow direct ventilation. For boiler rooms which do not border an exterior wall, a ventilation pipe (at least 200 cm2) must be routed to an exterior wall.

Room dimensions

Layout:

The tank installation room must be at least 7 - 10 cm wider than the tank itself. For example: S190 – tank width 197 cm minimum room width = 205 cm.

For installation reasons, on the side of the tank where the filler coupling is fitted, the room must be 30 cm longer than the minimum stated. For example: S190 – minimum room length: 205 cm + 30 cm = 235 cm.

Height of the room: The minimum required height of the room is 215 cm..

Connection to the heating system:

The boiler has its own wire centre. It requires a 6 Amp power supply.

External emergency stop switch:

Outside the boiler room, and near the boiler room door, we recommend an „emergency stop switch“.

Tank room and boiler equipment

Walls: The wall and ceiling fire resistance for the tank room and the boiler room must be Class F 90.

Doors: As for all heating systems, the pellet storage room andthe boiler room doors must be fire resistant (minimum 30T), must open outwards and must have seals

Filling system:

In general if a FlexiTank is used, there is no need to remove the air blown in. However the room where the FlexiTank is installed must have an adequate breather opening (window or similar) of section at least 170cm. According to the size of the tank or the position of the supply unit you will need up to two fillers to fill the FlexiTank evenly.
